Our new guideline has been published!
Part 1 focuses on establishing the coeliac diagnosis and includes the serology-only approach.

IL-2 in whole blood for Celiac diagnosis
Published in June 2025 in Gastroenterology, Jason Tye-Din´s group from Melbourne, Australia, have provided prospectively collected data on a new assay measuring IL-2 in whole blood (so-called WBAIL-2 assay). They show sensitivities up to 90% and specifities as high as 95% even in patients already consuming a gluten-free diet.

IFN-gamma causes crypt hyperplasia
Jorunn Stamnaes, PI in Ludvig Sollid´s group in Oslo, has convincingly shown in human small intestinal tissue and also in a murine conditional knock-out model, that T-cell derived IFN-gamma will trigger crypt hyperplasia by signaling in epithelia via the IFNg-receptor-1/STAT1 axis.
