The Dietetic Research & Innovation Fellowship Programme is a collaborative initiative designed to bring together leading dietitians from across Europe to exchange ideas, foster professional development, and develop a multicentre research project.

The programme will consist of:

• A panel of four established dietitians from leading European centres.

• Four selected fellows chosen through an open application process.

• A 3 day in-person workshop hosted at one of the participating centres.

The workshop will focus on knowledge exchange, collaborative learning, and the development of a joint research proposal to be conducted following the programme.

Programme Structure

​

Four established dietitians from different European centres will form the Expert Panel.

Panel Roles

• Select the location for the workshop and make necessary arrangements. 

• Participate in the selection of potential fellows for the workshop.

• Provide mentorship and guidance during the workshop.

• Facilitate the development of a collaborative research project.

• Support fellows during the post-workshop research phase.

Four dietitians will be selected through an open application process.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Be a registered dietitian or equivalent.

• Demonstrate interest in research and innovation in dietetics.

• Be affiliated with a European healthcare or academic institution.

• Commit to participation in the workshop and post-programme research activities.

Application Process for Fellows

Applicants must submit:

• Completed application form

• Curriculum Vitae (max 2 pages)

Selection process

Applications will be reviewed and scored by the Expert Panel and, when appropriate, members of the ESCID board. Applicants will be notified by email of the outcome of their application. Dates and timelines for application submissions and notification of outcomes are available on the website. Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to re-apply to the fellowship programme.

Costs

The ESCID will cover reasonable costs associated with attending the workshop for the Expert Panel and Fellows. This may include travel to/ from the workshop, the cost of two-three nights accommodation, and two-three breakfast and dinner meals, around where the workshop is being held. Costs will either be covered before and/ or after attendance at the event. In the case of the latter, costs will only be reimbursed after the Applicant has submitted appropriate receipts.

Insurance and Liability

• Participation in the Workshop is entirely voluntary.

• The Participant acknowledges and accepts full responsibility for any and all risks associated with attendance and participation, including but not limited to risks related to travel, physical activity, food consumption, environmental conditions, or interactions with other participants.

• The hosting organisation shall not be held liable for any loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings during the Workshop.

Termination or Withdrawal

The Applicant may be withdrawn from the Fellowship Programme if:

• The Fellow breaches these Terms and Conditions or professional conduct standards.

• The Fellow is unable to complete the programme due to unforeseen circumstances.

• Funding or hosting arrangements are withdrawn.

Amendments

The ESCID reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to Applicants and selected Fellows as appropriate.

Acceptance of Terms

By accepting the Fellowship, the Fellow agrees to abide by these Terms and Conditions in full.
